What ICON Is (IC)

ICON, the Collegium of Orders & Nations, is a cross-border institution designed to turn distance into connection. Where others see borders and grudges, we see routes, agreements, and opportunities to do better by doing the work.

Established in 2014 in its infancy and under different flags, ICON has slowly evolved from a Free Company to a Community level.

• Coalition of specialists: negotiators, guards, couriers, artisans, scholars, quartermasters.
• Trade, craft, diplomacy, and service—whether in halls, on the road, or in the inconvenient middle of nowhere.
• A network with room for characters building something larger than themselves.

OOC Overview

ICON is collaborative writing focused on grounded motivations, believable constraints, and consequences that feel earned—without demanding novel-length posts.

• Collaborative play: strong choices; we build with you, not against you.
• Communication first: when in doubt, reach out.
• Mature themes may appear: politics/violence/hardship—never misery for its own sake.

Community Story Arc RP

ICON’s sanctioned, evolving narrative. Story Arc play maintains coherence with established rules, tone, and FFXIV lore.

Member Story RP

Community-endorsed missions and gatherings—less formal, while honoring continuity (with flexibility set by the host). Non-lore abiding to remain outside the community roleplay.

Personal RP

Private/public scenes beyond ICON’s shared narrative. Alternate concepts are welcome—kept distinct from ICON community canon, which respects FFXIV lore.

The Higher Standard

• Keep IC & OOC separate.
• Post in third person.
• Roleplay game creation races. Garleans acceptable.
• No god-moding or metagaming.
• Accept consequences of roleplay.
• Get OOC consent when needed.
• Avoid shorthand/L33T.
• No multiverse / multi-timeline in shared ICON canon & community.

ICON Story System (Playtest)

Player friendly progression system designed to keep mechanics from interrupting scenes.

A custom story system based on Mind’ s Eye Theatre – Vampire: The Masquerade (First Edition), adapted for FFXIV roleplay. It is currently in playtest and refined through live scenes and feedback.

Ambassadors & Nobles

Salons, favors, introductions—reputation war by whispers and endorsements.

Artisans

Ceremonial regalia, restorations, field tools, workshops, rival showcases.

The Courts

Advocacy, precedent duels, forged papers, settlements written to survive bad faith.

Craftsmen & Tradesmen

Procurement and logistics—contracts, bids, disputes, routes and markets.

Scholastic & Clergy

Rites, counsel, mediation—treaties, custom, lineage, relic provenance.

Swordsmen

Escort, drill, recoveries, sabotage response—handled with consent and care.
